On October 27, 2023, the Kazakhstan Construction Industry Forum “Building Code - Construction of the Future” was held, organized by the National Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship along with the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kazakhstan Construction Industry Association.

As part of the discussion panel of the expert platform on the issue of “Application of construction contract forms with FIDIC elements,” which was moderated by FIDIC Contracts and Procurement Manager K.A. Lonovenko, the practice of applying FIDIC to local legislation, contract statistics and international practice were discussed. Employees of the Road Committee, as well as experts from Uzbekistan and Armenia, were present.

As a result of the discussion platform, the National Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the National Committee of the World Road Association “PIARC” and the Kazakhstan National Association of Professional Engineers and Consultants concluded a Memorandum of Cooperation. The main goals of the memorandum are the development of the road industry and the introduction of FIDIC principles in our country. FIDIC is a modern standard that ensures quality results in construction. The agreement will be implemented in the following forms:

Holding events and providing venues

Carrying out joint research

Supporting the development of organizations and determining the direction of innovation

The main advantages of FIDIC are high quality, efficiency, fairness. When implementing these contracts, the following requirements are met: high responsibility of the engineer for the quality and volume of work performed, lack of influence from the customer when making technical decisions, the ability to promptly make technical decisions by the engineer, prompt response to market fluctuations in prices for basic building materials, penalties for failure to meet construction deadlines, mobilization, for the evenness and quality of the coating, attracting independent companies with international experience.
